COLDWEATHERSTARTUP
TheColdWeatherClutchenablestheenginetobestartedwithouthavingtopullthroughcold,
thickenedhydraulicfluid.Simplypullthehandleoutintolockedposition.Startengine,letitwarmup,
andreleaseColdWeatherClutch.Afterstarting,assurethattheleverhasreengaged.
SPLITTEROPERATION
1. Setupthelogsplitterinaclear,levelareaandblockthewheels.Thesuctionportonthetankshould
alwaysbeonthelowersideofthelogsplitter.
2. Placealogonthebeam,againstthefootplate.Makesurethelogissecurelyonthefootplateandup
againstthebeam.
3. Depressthevalveleversothatthecylinderwilldrivethepushblockintothelog.Extendthecylinder
untilthelogsplitsortotheendofitsstroke.Iftheloghasnotcompletelysplitafterthecylinderhas
reachedtheendofitsextension,retractthecylinder.NOTE:
Leavingthevalveinthe“actuate”position
attheendofthestrokemaydamagethepump.Alwaysuseextracarewhensplittinglogswithendsthat
arenotsquare.
NOTE:
Toextendthelifeofthehydrauliccylinder,avoid“BOTTOMINGOUT”thecylinder.

andstatelaws.Anylicensingormodificationssuchastaillights,etc.,needtocomplywithexistingfederal,local,
orstatevehiclerequirementsisthesoleresponsibilityofthepurchaser.Obeyallregulationswhentowingon

HYDRAULICSAFETY
Thehydraulicsystemonyoursplitterrequirescarefulinspectionalongwiththemechanicalparts.Besureto
replaceanyfrayed,kinked,crackedorotherwisedamagedhydrauliccomponents.Justbecauseitisn’tleaking
todaydoesn’tmeanthatitwillnotfailtomorrow.
Fluidescapingfromaverysmallholecanalmostbeinvisible.Donotcheckforleakswithyourhand.Escaping
fluidunderpressurecanhavesufficientforcetopenetrateskincausingseriouspersonalinjuryorevendeath.
Leakscanbedetectedbypassingapieceofcardboardorwoodoverthesuspectedleakandlookingfor
discoloration.
IFinjuredbyescapingfluid,seeadoctoratonce.Seriousinfectionorreactioncandevelopif
propermedicaltreatmentisnotadministeredimmediately.
Shoulditbecomenecessarytoloosenorremoveanyhydraulicfittings,linesorreservoircap,besuretorelieveall
pressurebyshuttingoftheengineandmovingthecontrolhandlebackandforthseveraltimes.
NEVERremovethecapfromthehydraulictankorreservoirwhiletheunitisrunning.Hotoilunderpressure
couldresultinseriousinjury.Seealso
